How to Put a Link in Your TikTok Bio
TikTok is stricter about links than any other large platform. That catches people out, because the steps are simple and the field is often just... not there. So start with eligibility, then the steps.
First: can your account have a link at all?
TikTok shows the Website field under two conditions. A personal account gets it once it passes 1,000 followers. A Business account gets it straight away, whatever the follower count.
That second route is the answer for most people asking this question, and it costs nothing. A Business account is free, you can switch back whenever you like, and it doesn't change how your existing videos perform.
There is one genuine trade-off, and nobody mentions it until it bites: Business accounts can only use TikTok's commercial sound library. Trending tracks from the general catalogue become unavailable. If your videos live or die by the current sound, weigh that before switching.
The four steps
- 1
Open your profile and tap Edit profile
Tap Profile in the bottom-right corner, then the Edit profile button under your username.
- 2
Find the Website field
Scroll past Name, Username and Bio. If there is no Website row, your account is not eligible yet — switch to a Business account.
- 3
Paste your link
Enter the full URL including https://. TikTok rejects links it cannot resolve, and some shorteners.
- 4
Save, then test it logged out
Tap Save. Open your profile in a private browser window to confirm the link is clickable for people who do not follow you.
How to switch to a Business account
Profile → the ☰ menu, top right → Settings and privacy → Account → Switch to Business Account. Pick the category that fits, confirm, and the Website field appears in Edit profile.
When the link still doesn't work
A few things go wrong often enough to be worth naming. The URL must be complete — https:// included, or TikTok may silently refuse it. Some link shorteners are blocked outright, so use your real address if you can. And a brand-new domain is occasionally held back for review for a day or two.
Always test it signed out. Open your profile in a private browser window: the link can look fine to you and be missing for everyone else.
One field, many destinations
You get one link, which is awkward if you have a shop, a booking form and a newsletter. The usual fix is to point that one link at a page that lists everything, and change the page rather than the profile.
If you're choosing a tool for that, there's one thing worth checking: most of these pages can't be found on Google. They are built as JavaScript apps on a shared domain, so a search engine sees an empty shell. For a creator that's fine — all your traffic comes from TikTok anyway. For a business, being unsearchable is a real cost, and it's worth understanding why before you commit.
